Canada Without Poverty has submitted a brief to the Standing Committee on Finance’s Pre-Budget Consultations in advance of the 2018 budget, calling for the government to take immediate steps to support the economic contributions of people in Canada and meet the country’s obligations under international human rights law.
Recommendations include: implementing a human rights approach to Budget 2018, developing a national pharmacare program that provides cost-effective prescription drugs at little or no cost and increasing the amount of transfer payments to provinces and territories with earmarked sufficient funds for social assistance.
